The traffic accident occurred on February 1, around 13.20, on Horodotska Street in Lviv.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Volkswagen Polo, a 24-year-old Lviv resident, hit a pedestrian, a 90-year-old local resident.
As a result of the accident, the elderly man was injured and hospitalized.
Investigators of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 opened a criminal proceeding over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is up to three years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
