The traffic accident happened on March 13 at 8:20 p.m. on Varshavska Street.
As previously established by the law enforcement officers, the driver of the Volkswagen Passat, a 61-year-old resident of Lviv, ran over a female pedestrian, also a resident of Lviv, age 65, who was crossing the roadway within the pedestrian crossing.
As a result of the collision, the woman received injuries and was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of doctors, the victim died in the hospital.
According to the fact, the investigators opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided for by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.
An investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
