
A Local Resident to be Tried in Sheptytskyi District for Drug Trafficking and Cannabis Cultivation
It has been established that the accused, a 26-year-old resident of the district center, purchased the drug ‘cannabis’ in large volumes and subsequently sold it in small quantities to the residents of the district, as well as cultivated cannabis plants at his home.
Exposure and Investigation
The offender was exposed by operational officers of the criminal police and investigators of police department No.1 of the Sheptytskyi district police department, under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office. Law enforcement documented several episodes of the man’s unlawful activity, and during a sanctioned search at his premises, discovered and seized 20 cannabis plants.
Criminal Proceedings
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, initiated under Part 1, Part 2 of Article 307 (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment, or trafficking of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances, or their analogs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 1 of Article 310 (Sowing or growing of opium poppy or cannabis) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is complete. The indictment has been forwarded to the court for consideration.
The maximum penalty the accused faces is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
