Based on the results of a special pre-trial investigation, the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office submitted to the court an indictment against a citizen of Ukraine on the facts of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and the activities of armed groups not provided for by law (Part 1 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 258-3, Part 2 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that the man left for the Donetsk region in 2015, where he voluntarily switched to the side of the enemy, joining the illegal armed formation of the “people’s militia of the DNR”.
After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he performed combat tasks related to the military seizure of the territory of Ukraine.
The facts of the defendant’s participation in hostilities in the Mariupol direction, in particular the artillery shelling of the positions of the Armed Forces in the city of Mariupol, have been documented.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the SBU Office in the Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
