Analysis of the Hydrological Situation on the Rivers of Lviv Region: Precipitation, Rising Water Levels, and Ice Phenomena
An overview of the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv Region as of 08:00 on April 6, 2024:
According to the hydrological network data, 1-13 mm of precipitation fell across the Lviv region in the past 24 hours.
In the past day, due to precipitation, water level rises of 2-25 cm were observed on some tributaries of the Dniester, while water levels continued to fall by 2-16 cm elsewhere, and in some places by 36-48 cm (HP Dniester, section Rozdil – Zhuravno) within a day.
On the flat rivers of the Sian and Western Bug basins, slight water level fluctuations of 1-12 cm were noted per day, mainly with a rise.
The water temperature on the mountain tributaries of the Dniester was 0.2-3.2°, while on other rivers of the region it was 4.0-9.8°.
Forecast of Changes in the Hydrological Situation
Consultation on changes in the hydrological situation on the rivers of Lviv Region:
In the next day, slight fluctuations in water levels with a tendency to rise are expected on most rivers of the Dniester basin (warning about the change in hydrological situation Gk-6 dated 04.04.2025 is active). On other rivers of the region, a decline in water levels will prevail.
During April 7-9, due to a sharp drop in air temperature, ice phenomena in the form of coastal ice and frazil are expected to appear on some mountain tributaries of the Dniester.
