In Yavoriv region, rescuers helped a child who almost fell under the ice

On December 22 at 12:56, the Rescue Service “101” received a message that in the village of Glass of the Yavoriv district, on the territory of the local lake, a child is in crisis and is calling for help.

Rescuers from Novoyavorivsk and Yavoriv went to the scene of the call.

As it turned out at the scene, the girl, born in 2011, decided to go out on the frozen lake during a walk, but when she was returning to the shore, she noticed that the thin ice was breaking under her feet. Without taking a step further, the girl began to call for help. Eyewitnesses heard the girl and called rescuers.

When the rescuers arrived at the scene, the child was 10 m from the shore.

Being extremely careful not to allow the ice to split, the rescuers on the boat swam as close as possible to the child, after which they pulled her up with a rescue rope and brought her to the shore on the boat.

On the shore, paramedics handed the girl over to her parents and medics, who, after an examination, hospitalized the child with a diagnosis of mild hypothermia in Novoyavorivsk District Hospital.

In connection with significant warming, an unstable ice cover has formed on the reservoirs of the Lviv region – the thickness of which is extremely dangerous. Therefore, the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region warns the residents of the region that going out on the thin ice of water bodies can be very dangerous.

Do not neglect your own health. Keep yourselves. But in case of danger, call 101!
