Fire in a Residential Building in Stryi Results in Owner’s Death
On April 21 at 18:58, the Rescue Service ‘101’ received a report about a fire in the city of Stryi on Sheptytskoho Street, Stryi district. The fire occurred in a brick residential building, with a tin roof, measuring 6×12 m.
Rescuers’ Actions
By the time rescuers arrived, thick black smoke was billowing from the windows of the building. Due to heavy smoke, firefighters had to work in special respiratory and vision protection equipment.
During the reconnaissance of the smoke-filled building, in one of the rooms on the floor, rescuers found an unconscious man, whom they brought outside to fresh air and started cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Upon the arrival of medics, the emergency medical assistance team continued to provide aid, but unfortunately, the man died. The deceased was identified as the homeowner, a man born in 1938.
Fire Extinguishment
At 19:17, firefighters localized the fire, and by 19:32 they had extinguished the fire affecting household items over an area of 8 square meters.
Nine rescuers and two units of special equipment were involved in the fire extinguishment.
