Yavoriv district: firefighters rescued 7 people and brought 16 more out into the fresh air at a fire in a high-rise building
On 20 June, at 04:16, the Rescue Service “101” received a report of a fire in Novoyavorivsk on Stepan Bandera Street, Yavoriv district. The fire started in an apartment on the eighth floor of a nine-storey residential building.
Rescuers from Novoyavorivsk, Ivano-Frankivsk, Yavoriv, Horodok and Lviv arrived at the scene. When the firefighters arrived at the scene, thick black smoke was coming out of the windows of the apartment. Due to the heavy smoke, not all residents could leave their homes on their own, so rescuers wearing special respiratory and visual protection devices rescued 7 people and took 16 others out into the fresh air.
At 05:22, the firefighters contained the fire and at 05:43, they extinguished it.
Eight units of special equipment and 28 firefighters were involved in the firefighting operations.
The causes and circumstances of the fire are being established.
