Construction of 3 residential complexes is planned within the project.
Today, June 21, a coordination meeting on the implementation of the housing project was held by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) together with the Lviv and Luhansk OVAs.
The project started in 2020 in Luhansk region. However, in connection with the full-scale invasion, its implementation was transferred to Lviv Oblast.
Therefore, within the scope of the project, the construction of 3 residential complexes in Kamyanka-Buzka and Drohobytska communities was planned, as well as the renovation of housing in the city of Stary Sambir, in which from 1,326 to 1,668 internally displaced persons will be able to live.
In total, it is planned to create from 442 to 556 apartments.
“This year and last year were extremely difficult with many challenges that we had to overcome together. One of them is the problem of IDPs, first of all – ensuring decent living conditions. Thanks to IOM for the projects that have already been implemented. At the same time, I am convinced that the housing project will be successful and implemented in the shortest possible time. It is important that the project is designed not only to settle people, but also to improve the conditions for their full integration into the socio-economic and cultural life of the communities of the Lviv region. That is why we are already talking about social infrastructure, conditions for work, training, etc., – noted the first deputy head of the Lviv OVA Andriy Godyk.
We note that the selection of settlements within the project was carried out on the basis of taking into account the following socio-economic criteria:
availability of potential employment opportunities;
proximity to social, medical, transport, educational infrastructure;
compliance with security conditions (absence of military facilities and critical infrastructure).
For reference
The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is one of Ukraine’s international partners, which since the beginning of the full-scale war has been actively providing assistance to forcibly displaced persons, in particular in the following areas:
– renovation of premises for IDPs;
– material and technical support of places of residence of IDPs;
– support of invincibility points;
– provision of backup power sources for social infrastructure facilities.
