In the Lviv region, 1,400 cameras recognize people and cars – the project was developed by the Lviv IT cluster

The project was developed by the Lviv IT cluster with the support of the Lviv OVA and the Main Directorate of the National Police of the Lviv region.

Today, September 22, the project was presented to the deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Kyryl Tymoshenko, who is visiting Lviv region.

“Vision” is a system of high-precision recognition of people and cars, which significantly expanded the functionality of the centralized video surveillance system in the Lviv region.

Thus, 1,400 video surveillance cameras were installed in the region, which help to investigate criminal offenses and find criminals. Specialists working with the integrated video surveillance system of the Lviv region can receive data from other regions.

The development is a supplement to the “Safe Lviv Region” program. “Vision” is the development and provision of new functions to this program. With the help of “Vision” it is possible to analyze the digital data coming from cameras, to do it faster, to better recognize license plates, car brands, people’s faces, etc.

The same system operates in six oblasts of Ukraine. Thanks to her, more than 170 serious and especially serious crimes were solved in Lviv Oblast alone since April.

Kyrylo Tymoshenko noted that the use of such systems in each oblast will make it possible to quickly find a criminal or the vehicle on which he was traveling, regardless of which oblast he was in. He also emphasized that it is important that all regions use a single system that will allow the police of different regions of Ukraine to cooperate even more effectively in solving crimes.

“We have to create safe living conditions and a safe environment – this is one of the conditions why people should want to live here in Lviv region. In order to obtain the maximum result from the system, it is necessary for each community of the region to install it. This will make it possible to track the movement of wanted persons and vehicles within the borders of Lviv Region as best as possible,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, head of the Lviv Police Department.

“Today, in Lviv Oblast, in the conditions of war, we are developing a video surveillance system and are already achieving results that give us the courage to say that crime in the region has greatly decreased. Thanks to this system, crime is controlled by the National Police within the limits of preventing its development. Because a criminal can leave his digital traces and, after tracking them with the help of a video surveillance system, we will be able to identify him and bring him to criminal responsibility”, – emphasized the head of the Main Department of the National Police of the Lviv region Oleksandr Shlyakhovskyi.
