Specialists of the Nezlamni center in Lviv have improved the technique of manufacturing prostheses

The training lasted a week under the guidance of an experienced Indian prosthetist Lapkush Kumar, who cooperates with Handicap International – Humanity & Inclusion. This is an organization that constantly supports the NEZLAMNI National Rehabilitation Center, helps with the training of specialists and engages its specialists for the rehabilitation of Ukrainian patients.

Specialists have improved the technique of manufacturing lower limb prostheses. This modern technique is called “ischial containment socket”, which translates as “stump receiver with buttock containment”.

According to this technology, the part that is worn on the stump and “connects” the limb with the prosthesis, that is, the stump receiver, is made so that it occupies a larger area – up to the buttock bone. Such prosthetics provides better stability. So the patient feels more comfortable and more confident when walking.

“This is a very progressive type of stump receiver. This is the future of prosthetics,” Nazar Bagniuk, the head of prosthetics at the NEZLAMNI center, is convinced. He himself has been using this technology in his work for a long time. But the new prosthetists, who recently joined the team of the NEZLAMNI center, have mastered it only now.

Hundreds of people suffer every day due to Russian aggression, therefore, in order to make their treatment and rehabilitation comfortable and accessible in Ukraine, in Lviv, at the UNBROKEN National Rehabilitation Center, a multidisciplinary team works with every Ukrainian, providing surgical, physical, psychological and psychosocial professional assistance . Thanks to the support of donors, a prosthetics workshop was opened and bionic prostheses are installed, as well as a new modern rehabilitation building: it is 7 floors with the most modern rehabilitation equipment. Every year, 10,000 Ukrainians will be able to receive help here.
