The Lviv regional team entered the top three in the medal standings of the Ukrainian Athletics Championship for the first time.
The competition was held in Lviv at the “Skif” stadium from August 8 to 10, gathering 700 athletes from 24 regions and Kyiv. “Representatives of the Lviv region won 12 medals. We have invested a lot in the athletics infrastructure: we restored the indoor athletic arena of the summer sports training base, built ‘upper fields’ and a warm-up area of the ‘Skif’ sports complex, and a few years earlier completed the reconstruction of the stadium’s athletics core, accrediting it with the second category. With infrastructure come opportunities for growth. It is gratifying that this effort is yielding results,” said the head of the sports, youth, and tourism department of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Roman Khimyak.
