NEWRUN Half Marathon in Lviv Brought Together 5,000 Participants

The “NewRun Lviv Half Marathon” took place on 2-3 May in Lviv, bringing together around 5,000 participants from across Ukraine. The event was kicked off with a children’s run on the first day, and today adult runners conquered distances from 1 to 21 km. A notable feature of the event was the participation of veterans in prosthetics and wheelchairs undergoing rehabilitation at the UNBROKEN Centre.

Andriy Sadovyi welcomed the participants, highlighting that Lviv is celebrating its 770th anniversary. He wished everyone a smooth start and a successful finish. Half marathon participants had the opportunity to choose different distances — 1, 5, 10 and 21 km. There was also a charity student mile that brought together 770 students.

According to Oksana Syvets, Director of NewRun, the event was designed so that everyone could choose their own distance, regardless of their level of preparation. Anton Nikulin, Head of Lviv’s Sports Office, emphasised the importance of the event’s inclusivity.

The half marathon had a social mission — raising funds to support the sporting initiatives of the UNBROKEN Centre. The funds collected will be used for the UNBROKEN Games in May.
