Regina Abramova Set a Record in Artistic Gymnastics

Five-year-old gymnast Regina Abramova became a record holder in the category of “longest time holding the body in the ‘vertical hang straight inverted’ position.” The girl’s time was 5 minutes and 52 seconds.

This exercise is not part of the women’s gymnastics program but is used by Regina’s coach in her daily training sessions. The task is technically challenging and requires high physical fitness, strength, and endurance.

“Abramova Regina has been studying at the artistic gymnastics department at DYUSSH 1 Lviv since she was 4 years old. Her coach is Oksana Khandoga,” said the head of the department of sports, youth, and tourism of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Roman Khimiak.

Achievements and Plans of a Young Athlete

Regina, at the age of 5 years and 3 months, completed the 2nd junior category program in artistic gymnastics. She is preparing to complete the 1st junior category in June 2025. She is a medalist and winner of sports gymnastics competitions.

The young athlete’s hobby is running. Since she was 2.5 years old, she has been participating in both children’s and adult competitions. She has participated in and won prizes in more than 15 running competitions. She was the youngest participant in the “Lviv Ten” in 2023 (200 m) and 2024 (1 km).

In total, Regina trains 5-6 hours a day, 6 days a week. The girl’s biggest dream is to become an Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics.
