On Thursday, 10 September, a farewell ceremony will be held in Lviv for serviceman Andriy Kravchyshyn, who gave his life defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. The city authorities call on Lviv residents and visitors to join the ceremony and to refrain at this time from entertainment events and celebrations.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30 a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. The warrior will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honourable Burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Andriy Kravchyshyn (13.12.1990 — 02.12.2025) was a Lviv native. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School No. 95 in Lviv, later qualifying as an installer of sanitary and technical systems and equipment and as a gas welder at the state vocational education institution ‘Interregional Higher Vocational School of Motor Transport and Construction’. He received his higher education at the National University ‘Lviv Polytechnic’, specialising in Construction.
At one time he completed compulsory military service. He worked as a storekeeper at the limited liability company ‘Hrupа Yuh Lviv’, and later in the construction sector at private enterprises.
His family remember Andriy as a kind, courageous, sociable and cheerful person, a loving father and caring family man, a loyal friend and brave brother-in-arms. He was passionate about sport, particularly football and basketball, and enjoyed fishing and watching football matches.
Andriy was a participant in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO). With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, he once again took up the defence of his Homeland. He defended Ukraine’s territorial integrity in the Donetsk sector as part of the 503rd Separate Marine Battalion of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later fought in the Donetsk and Kherson sectors as part of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
For his service, Andriy Kravchyshyn was awarded the honorary breast badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ‘Golden Cross’.
The fallen defender is survived by his wife, daughter, son, parents, grandmothers, brothers and sisters.
