🔹 23-year-old Vladyslav Smal killed during a combat mission
On January 12, 2024, near the village of Rai-Oleksandrivka in Donetsk region, Vladyslav Ihorovych Smal, a senior soldier and drone operator with the unmanned aviation crew of military unit A4118, was killed by an enemy FPV drone attack. The young Hero gave his life while fulfilling a critical combat task for Ukraine’s independence.
🔹 Major Hryhorii Melnychuk passed away during treatment
That same day, 54-year-old Hryhorii Yevstafiiovych Melnychuk, an officer of the operations management department of military unit A5145, died in the Main Military Clinical Hospital in Kyiv. He had dedicated his life to military service and passed away while undergoing treatment.
The Sheptytska City Council extends sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of the fallen. We bow our heads in sorrow and gratitude. Both defenders have joined the Heavenly Legion, and it is our duty to honor their memory and understand the high cost of freedom.
