On 27 July, a city funeral ceremony will be held in Lviv for three servicemen who died defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers – Serhii Kud, Oleksandr Olkhovyk and Roman Mytnyk. Residents and visitors to the city are asked to join in honouring the memory of the fallen soldiers and to refrain from entertainment activities at this time.
The funeral service will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square in the centre of Lviv. Afterwards, Serhii Kud, Oleksandr Olkhovyk and Roman Mytnyk will be laid to rest at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the field of honourable burials No. 87 on Pasichna Street.
Serhii Kud (04.03.1978 — 29.12.2024) was a Lviv native. He studied at Secondary Comprehensive School I–III degrees No. 78 in Lviv, and later qualified as a turner at the Lviv Higher Vocational School of Information and Computer Technologies. He worked as a cash-in-transit courier at the Lviv Directorate of the joint-stock company “Ukrposhta”.
According to his relatives, Serhii was distinguished by his diligence, kindness and sensitivity, was always ready to support others, and devoted a great deal of attention to his family. In his free time, he enjoyed football and sport.
In 2024, he joined the ranks of Ukraine's defenders and defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state in the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk sectors as part of the 61st Separate Mechanised Steppe Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Serhii Kud is survived by his mother, wife, daughter and other relatives.
Oleksandr Olkhovyk (12.08.1981 — 22.05.2026) was originally from the city of Selydove in Donetsk region. He studied at Selydove Gymnasium No. 1, and trained as a painter-plasterer at the Yasynuvata Vocational Construction Lyceum. After completing his studies, he worked in the construction sector for private companies.
Relatives remember Oleksandr as a kind, sincere and compassionate person who always helped those in need and cared about the people around him. He loved music, especially rap.
In 2022, during a missile strike on the railway station in Kramatorsk, Oleksandr lost his wife and daughter. In 2026, he enlisted in the army, defending Ukraine from Russian aggression, and served in military unit A5065. After his death, Oleksandr Olkhovyk is survived by a daughter, his parents and his brother.
Roman Mytnyk (callsign “Mukha”) (27.04.1990 — 06.10.2024) was also a Lviv native. He studied at Lyceum No. 21 of Lviv City Council, and received his vocational education at the institution of vocational (vocational and technical) education “Lviv Vocational College of Restaurant Business”. He worked as an expediter at a private company.
Those close to him describe Roman as a cheerful and optimistic person who brought warmth and positivity to those around him. He loved to travel, discovering new places and drawing inspiration from the beauty of the world. He had a particular interest in technology – Roman was passionate about taking apart and reassembling various mechanisms and devices.
In 2024, he joined the ranks of Ukraine's defenders. He served in the Donetsk sector as part of the 68th Separate Airmobile Brigade named after Oleksa Dovbush of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, where he defended the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the state. Roman Mytnyk is survived by his father, brother, sister, brother-in-law and niece.
