
The Sokal community mourns a devastating loss — their Hero and defender, Ivan Bashtyk, has died in action.
The tragic incident occurred on August 13, 2025, near the settlement of Rubizhne in Kharkiv region. While performing a fire mission, a fire broke out inside the gun, which led to the death of serviceman Ivan Ivanovych Bashtyk, born in 1990 and a native of the village of Ilkovychi.
From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Ivan volunteered to defend his homeland. He served in military unit A3085 as a mechanic-driver of the first gun in the self-propelled artillery platoon. He was recognized for his bravery and dedication, receiving multiple commendations and the “Golden Cross” badge from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
His selfless service and ultimate sacrifice became a symbol of courage and love for Ukraine — Ivan gave his life for our peaceful future.
Heartfelt condolences go to his mother, Olha Mykolaivna, his wife Kateryna, sons Stanislav and Arsenii, brothers Pavlo and Stepan, sister Nataliia, as well as his entire family and friends.
