
The city of Sambir mourns the loss of another of its defenders — Ukrainian Armed Forces soldier Volodymyr Kusen, a native of Sambir, born in 1975, was killed in action during the war against Russian invaders.
Volodymyr served in the 117th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade. He held the position of crew member in the 3rd anti-tank unit of the 1st mechanized battalion. He fought in some of the fiercest battles on the front lines. On September 3, 2023, during combat near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region, he died, remaining loyal to his military oath and the Ukrainian people.
Mayor Yuriy Hamar, members of the city council, the executive committee, and employees of the Sambir City Council extended their heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and comrades of the fallen hero.
The funeral ceremony will take place on Monday, December 29. At 11:00 AM, the mourning procession with the soldier’s body will arrive at Memory Square. The column will then proceed to the Hall of Organ and Chamber Music, where the farewell and funeral service will begin at 2:00 PM.
