Once again, the Sokal region mourns the loss of a Hero who gave his life defending Ukraine.
On May 6, 2024, during a combat mission near the village of Staromaiorske in Donetsk region’s Volnovakha district, 54-year-old Ihor Yuriyovych Buldiak from the city of Sokal was killed.
Ihor was born on December 9, 1969. He studied at Sokal Secondary School No. 2 and later graduated from the local vocational school.
On December 19, 2023, he was called up for military service. He served as a senior sergeant and unit commander in military unit A-4945.
The journey to bring Ihor’s body back home took nearly five months. Only recently, as part of the repatriation of fallen soldiers, his remains were returned to Sokal.
The community expresses heartfelt condolences to his mother Zinaida, sister Iryna, aunt, cousins, and nephews.
The farewell ceremony will take place on Tuesday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m. near the Church of Saints Peter and Paul. After the burial service, Ihor will be laid to rest in the Alley of Heroes in Sokal.
