On Saturday, 8 August, the city of Lviv will hold civic farewell and burial ceremonies for six servicemen who were killed defending Ukraine from the Russian occupiers. Residents of Lviv and visitors to the city are urged to join the farewell and to refrain from entertainment and celebrations at this time.
The city will bid farewell to the soldiers Oleksandr Vorokosov, Pavlo Tolopka, Oleh Nos, Serhii Lisitsyn, Marian Behei and Oleh Zaiats.
The funeral service for Serhii Lisitsyn, Oleksandr Vorokosov, Pavlo Tolopka and Oleh Nos will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 11:30, a citywide farewell ceremony will be held on Rynok Square. Oleksandr Vorokosov, Pavlo Tolopka and Oleh Nos will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery, in the Field of Honour No. 87 (Pasichna Street), and Serhii Lisitsyn at Holosko Cemetery, Field 34-V.
The funeral service for Marian Behei and Oleh Zaiats will begin at 14:00 at the Garrison Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul. At approximately 14:30, another citywide farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. Marian Behei will be buried in the Field of Honour No. 87 at Lychakiv Cemetery, and Oleh Zaiats in Field 34-V at Holosko Cemetery.
Serhii Lisitsyn (18.07.1978 — 22.12.2023) was born in Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No. 58 and later at the Lviv Vocational College of Culture and Arts, where he qualified as a wind orchestra conductor. He received his higher education at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, specialising in Philosophy. He worked as a history teacher at the Zahirianske Primary General Secondary Education Institution of the Solonka Village Council in Lviv Region, later as a librarian at the Lviv Regional Universal Scientific Library and in other positions.
His family remember Serhii as an honest, kind, sincere and polite person, open, friendly and especially attentive to others. He loved travelling, spending time in nature and being with his loved ones, and he cared for animals. In 2023 he stood up to defend Ukraine, fighting in the Donetsk sector as part of the 5th Separate Assault Kyiv Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Serhii Lisitsyn is survived by his mother and sister.
Oleksandr Vorokosov (30.08.1988 — 25.07.2024) was from Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No. 9 and at the Heroes of Kruty Lyceum with Enhanced Military and Physical Training. He worked in logistics at a private company. His family describe him as kind, sincere, caring and sociable, with an optimistic outlook on life, composure and inner strength. He was interested in boxing, computer games, anime and manga.
In 2024 Oleksandr joined the defence forces, protecting the territorial integrity of Ukraine in the Donetsk sector as part of the 32nd Separate Mechanised Steel Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He is survived by his mother, brother and other relatives.
Pavlo Tolopka (09.09.1981 — 09.11.2024) was from Lviv. He graduated from Secondary School No. 86 and trained as an auto mechanic at a Lviv vocational school. He worked in the construction sector at private companies. According to his relatives, Pavlo was a kind, sincere and sociable person, with a good sense of humour and a positive attitude to life. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, spending time in nature and cooking.
At the start of the full-scale invasion he took up arms to defend Ukraine. He served in the Southern-Slobozhansky and Donetsk sectors as part of the 37th Separate Marine Brigade of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Pavlo Tolopka is survived by his parents, sister, brother and his wider family.
Marian Behei (28.08.1989 — 28.12.2024) was born and raised in Lviv. He graduated from Secondary School No. 54 and trained as a car mechanic and electric welder. He studied at the Lviv Vocational College of the Lviv National Environmental University, where he qualified as a mechanical engineer in the mechanisation of land reclamation works in agriculture. He worked as an electrician at the municipal enterprise “Lvivsvitlo”.
According to his family, Marian was a kind, sincere and caring family man who loved his wife and children above all else. He was interested in sport, especially football, enjoyed active recreation and had a particular love of animals, and he was also a fan of the music of Stepan Hiha. In 2024 he joined the defence of the country. He first fought in the Southern-Slobozhansky sector as part of the 125th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and later in the Donetsk sector with the 5th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade. Marian Behei is survived by his wife, two sons, mother, brother and other relatives.
Oleh Nos (23.09.1985 — 27.01.2026) was from Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No. 47 and then at the Lviv Medical Vocational College “Monada”, where he qualified as a pharmacist. He received his higher education at Danylo Halytsky Lviv National Medical University, specialising in Clinical Pharmacy, and he also completed officer training. He worked as a pharmacist, later as a pharmacy manager and as a medical representative.
His relatives describe him as a very intelligent, responsible and kind person who treasured his family above all. He loved fishing, which helped him to relax. In 2024 he joined the defence forces, defending Ukraine in the Donetsk and Southern-Slobozhansky sectors as part of the 54th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after Hetman Ivan Mazepa of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleh Nos is survived by his wife and son.
Oleh Zaiats (05.08.1983 — 06.08.2026) was also from Lviv. He studied at Secondary School No. 72. He completed his compulsory military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He worked as a repair technician at private companies.
His loved ones remember Oleh as a cheerful, kind, sincere, sociable and hard-working person who easily made contact with people and was always open to communication. In his free time he enjoyed fishing, travelling and sport, particularly football. From 2024 he served in the 7th Carpathian Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and later in the 1st Donetsk Border Detachment “Hart” of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. Oleh Zaiats is survived by his parents, wife, daughter, brother, sister and extended family.
