The Drohobych community has once again felt the pain of loss upon learning that Andriy Davydov, a native of Drohobych, died defending Ukraine. During combat operations in the Pokrovsk direction in the autumn of 2024, contact with Davydov was lost, after which he was considered missing in action.
In May 2025, following the repatriation of his body to Ukraine, the soldier’s death was confirmed through DNA testing. Recently, on 30 March, the Hero’s body arrived in his hometown for a farewell ceremony.
At the Crossroads of Heroes, a ceremonial farewell took place with the participation of clergy, relatives, friends, and residents. Afterwards, the funeral procession proceeded to Rynok Square, where the community honoured Davydov’s memory with a prayer.
The procession, accompanied by a military band, moved towards the Church of the Holy Martyr Josaphat, where the funeral rite continued. Andriy Davydov will find his eternal rest on the Avenue of Glory. Eternal memory to the Hero!
