Andriy Hvozdetskyi from Truskavets Killed at the Front

On 28 March 2026, Andriy Hvozdetskyi from Truskavets was killed at the front by a “Molnia” type drone near the village of Mali Shcherbaky in the Vasylivka District of Zaporizhzhia Oblast. Andriy was born on 6 December 1981 in the village of Opaka and lived in Truskavets from the age of 3, where he attended Truskavets Secondary School No. 1 up to the 9th grade.

After completing his secondary education, Andriy studied at the Lviv Trade and Economics College. However, he remained closely connected to his native village of Opaka, working as a repair technician and often going abroad for work. When the full-scale war began, he returned from abroad to support Ukraine.

Initially, due to health reasons, Andriy was not enlisted in the army, but he actively assisted internally displaced individuals behind the lines. On 1 February 2025, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Andriy served as a rifleman-sniper in the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Truskavets community, acknowledging Andriy’s ties to the city and his friends and classmates, expresses sincere condolences to his family. The hero will be buried on Thursday, 9 April, in his native village of Opaka.
