First Ballistic Missile Strike on Lviv Since Full-Scale War Began: 376 Households in Rudno Left Without Gas

According to Ukraine’s Air Force, on the night of January 9, a ballistic missile hit the city of Lviv. The missile traveled at a hypersonic speed of approximately 13,000 km/h. This marks the first use of a ballistic missile against Lviv since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Located less than 70 kilometers from the EU border, Lviv once again highlights that Russia’s war knows no borders.

Meanwhile, Russia’s defense ministry claimed the strike was a form of “revenge” for an alleged Ukrainian attack on Putin’s countryside residence—a statement that aligns with the ongoing disinformation tactics of the aggressor state.

As a result of the blast wave caused by the missile, an emergency safety valve was triggered at a gas distribution point in Rudno, a locality near Lviv. The incident affected the following streets:

  • Sadova Street
  • Shevchenka Street
  • Kopernyka Street
  • Vuzka Street

In response, gas specialists shut off the supply at the inlet to the gas distribution station, temporarily cutting off gas to 376 subscribers. Emergency teams are currently working to fully restore the supply.

Additionally, six privately owned trucks sustained damage due to the explosion.
