Bohdan Verkhomii and Mykhailo Shtynda from Lviv Region Receive Posthumous Honours

A ceremony was held at the Lviv Regional Military Administration to award the posthumous honours of the President of Ukraine ‘For the Defence of Ukraine’ to police officers from Lviv Region, Bohdan Verkhomii and Mykhailo Shtynda. The awards were presented to the mothers of the Heroes by the head of Lviv Region police, Oleksandr Shliakhovskyi, and the head of the regional military administration, Maksym Kozytskyi.

The event began with a minute of silence to honour the memory of the fallen law enforcement officers who remained faithful to their oath and the Ukrainian people. The ceremony was conducted in an atmosphere of dignity and mourning.

Police Corporal Bohdan Verkhomii served in the special purpose police battalion ‘KORD’ and was injured on 27 May 2025 while performing a combat mission in the Kramatorsk district. He was 29 years old. Senior Police Sergeant Mykhailo Shtynda also served in ‘KORD’ and died on 18 September 2025 while carrying out a mission in the same district. He was 38 years old.
