Four years since defender Volodymyr Pentsak from Kupychvolia was killed

3 November marks four years since the death of Ukraine’s defender Volodymyr Pentsak from the village of Kupychvolia in the Velyki Mosty territorial community.

Volodymyr Pentsak was born on 31 January 1994. He began his military service in the border troops and later signed a contract with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine.

After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, while abroad, he voluntarily returned to Ukraine and joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. As part of the 115th Separate Mechanised Brigade, he fought in Luhansk region and later defended positions near Donetsk airport. He held the rank of senior sergeant and was a squad leader in a grenade launcher platoon.

On 3 November 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near Donetsk airport, Volodymyr Pentsak was killed as a result of enemy shelling. For a long time, he was considered missing in action. After his body was identified in March 2024, the warrior was laid to rest in his native land.

The defender was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III Class and granted the honorary title “Hero of the Velyki Mosty Territorial Community”.

Volodymyr Pentsak returned from abroad to stand in defence of Ukraine and gave his life for it. His courage and self-sacrifice live on in the memory of the community’s residents.
