UCCA delegation brings 52 ambulances to Lviv for the military

A delegation from the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) has arrived in Lviv as part of a humanitarian mission, delivering to Ukraine and handing over to the Armed Forces 52 ambulances to be used on the frontline. This was discussed during a meeting between the delegation and the Mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovyi.

The members of the delegation were received at Lviv City Hall. The parties discussed support for Ukraine from the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States, Lviv’s resilience under conditions of full-scale war, and the development of innovative urban projects.

The delegation included American civic and political figures of Ukrainian descent Andrew Futey and Michael Sawkiw Jr, Vice President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America Marta Lyscynesky-Kellegher, President of the United Ukrainian Organisations of the State of Ohio George (Yuriy) Yaskiw, Honorary Consul General of Lithuania in the USA for the states of Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky Ingrida Bublis, and other representatives of the Ukrainian community in the United States.

During the conversation, Andriy Sadovyi drew the guests’ attention to the security situation in Ukraine and the consequences of Russian strikes on cities, including Lviv, where a previous missile attack damaged residential buildings and business premises. He also stressed Lviv’s role as a major humanitarian hub that receives wounded service personnel, internally displaced people and others affected by the war.

The Mayor recalled that, in cooperation with partners, the city has created the UNBROKEN ecosystem, which includes a hospital, a rehabilitation centre and other projects related to recovery, sport and art. According to him, Lviv seeks to implement innovative solutions even under martial law.

Andrew Futey, President of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America in 2016–2024, reported that all 52 ambulances brought on this occasion had been handed over to the Armed Forces of Ukraine for use on the frontline. During their visit to Lviv, the delegation also plans to visit wounded service personnel and children’s institutions.

The Ukrainian Congress Committee of America (UCCA) is a US non-profit, non-partisan organisation that represents the interests of the Ukrainian community in the United States and unites civic, cultural, religious, professional and youth Ukrainian organisations. It was founded on 24 May 1940 in Washington during the First Congress of Ukrainians of America.

A separate area of UCCA’s cooperation with Lviv is support for the UNBROKEN centre. In particular, in 2025 the committee, together with American partners, organised a charity event in New York in support of this centre, during which it managed to raise 50,000 US dollars to equip a professional kitchen for UNBROKEN in Lviv.
