The 37th humanitarian convoy from Norway, organised by the association Bergen Hjelper Ukraina and the Carpathian Sea Democracy Week initiative, has already arrived in Lviv. This time, the partners delivered 13 vehicles to Ukraine, loaded with equipment and humanitarian cargo for military units, communities, hospitals, internally displaced persons and municipal services.
The vehicles were handed over in Lviv by the City Hall on Rynok Square, with the participation of city representatives, Ukrainian servicemen and the organisers of the convoy. This is the largest consignment of aid by volume that the civic initiative Bergen Hjelper Ukraina has put together for Ukraine since the start of the partnership.
First Deputy Mayor of Lviv Andriy Moskalenko thanked the partners from Bergen and highlighted the contribution of the Ukrainian community in this Norwegian partner city, with which Lviv also cooperates in the field of critical infrastructure. According to him, volunteers from Norway have, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, been systematically providing transport and equipment for Ukrainian troops at the front and engaging new business circles in their country to support Ukraine.
The convoy's cargo includes pallets of nappies, clothing and footwear for internally displaced persons, assistance for municipal services, generators and EcoFlow systems, sets of wheels, tools for vehicle repairs, sleeping bags, blankets, animal feed and other essential items. A separate shipment of medical equipment and medicines was delivered to a hospital.
Liliia Honcharevych, head of the Carpathian Sea Democracy Week initiative and Nordic Europe Hub Ukraine, stressed that the organisation focuses on advocating for increased support for Ukraine worldwide and mobilising civil society in Northern Europe and the Baltic region to help our country.
«We turn solidarity into capability: we bring together people, business, civil society, politicians, the military and volunteers so that international support for Ukraine is translated into concrete decisions, partnerships and assistance for those who defend it», — Liliia Honcharevych
The vehicles and equipment received have been allocated to meet the needs of combat and support units of the Defence Forces of Ukraine, in particular:
- 73rd Naval Special Operations Centre;
- 128th Separate Heavy Mechanised Brigade "Dyke pole" (Wild Field);
- 78th Separate Air Assault Regiment;
- 34th Separate Marine Brigade;
- 27th Separate Artillery Brigade named after Koshovyi Otaman Petro Kalnyshevskyi;
- 101st Separate Territorial Defence Brigade;
- artillery, engineer-sapper, unmanned and artillery reconnaissance units;
- material support battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other units.
Part of the humanitarian aid has also been directed to the community of the town of Polonne, the needs of Kherson and Lviv, the Truskavets Military Hospital, the public organisation "IDPs" and other recipients.
The initiative is supported by Bergen Hjelper Ukraina, Carpathian Sea Democracy Week, Nordic Europe Hub Ukraine, as well as an extensive network of Norwegian volunteers and organisations that consistently provide assistance to Ukraine.
