Dobrotvir community bids farewell to fallen soldier Vitalii Bodnar

On 20 July, the Dobrotvir community will accompany on his final journey Vitalii Ihorovych Bodnar from the village of Neznaniv. The serviceman, born in 1989, returns home on a shield, and a day of mourning has been declared in the community.

According to available information, Vitalii Bodnar served as a grenadier in the 1st Ranger Section of the 2nd Ranger Platoon of the 8th Ranger Company of the 3rd Ranger Battalion of military unit A4056 and carried out his duties conscientiously. Since 19 May 2024, he had been considered missing in action. It was later established that he was killed in the line of duty while carrying out a combat mission to defend Ukraine in the area of the settlement of Umanske, Pokrovskyi district, Donetsk region.

Farewell to the defender will take place according to the following schedule:

  • 11:40 – requiem service in the village of Zhovtantsi near the Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary (OCU);
  • 12:10 – Gospel reading near the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (OCU) in the town of Kamianka-Buzka;
  • 12:20 – Gospel reading near the Church of St Nicholas (UGCC) in Kamianka-Buzka;
  • 12:40 – Gospel reading near the Church of St George in the village of Ruda Siletska;
  • 12:50 – Gospel reading near the chapel in the village of Tartak;
  • 13:00 – meeting the warrior at the entrance to the village of Neznaniv, after which the funeral cortege will proceed to the fallen soldier’s home and then to the church.

The serviceman will be laid to rest at the local cemetery in Neznaniv.

Transport has been arranged for those wishing to pay their respects to the fallen: at 12:20 a bus will depart from the settlement of Dobrotvir (14 Ivana Franka Street).

The community extends its sincere condolences to the defender’s family and loved ones and calls on everyone to honour the memory of Vitalii Bodnar, who gave his life for Ukraine’s freedom and independence.
