Dobrotvir community to bid a final farewell to defender Andrii Savchyn

The Dobrotvir community is saying farewell to the fallen defender of Ukraine, Andrii Savchyn. The serviceman was killed in action while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Novooleksandrivka in the Pokrovskyi district of Donetsk region. The community has declared Days of Mourning from 10 to 12 September.

Andrii Bohdanovych Savchyn was born on 11 March 1967. He served as a senior rifleman-operator of unmanned aerial vehicles in the 3rd assault section of the 1st assault platoon of the 3rd assault company of the 1st assault battalion of military unit A4862 and conscientiously fulfilled his military duties. In the battle for Ukraine, its freedom and independence, he gave his life.

Since 20 May 2025, Andrii Savchyn had been considered missing in action. For more than a year, his family waited for news, hoping for his return, but instead received confirmation of the warrior’s death during a combat mission in Donetsk region. The community notes that this is an irreparable loss for his family, loved ones and all residents.

The farewell to the defender will take place on Saturday, 12 September. Residents of the Dobrotvir community are called upon to honourably welcome the fallen warrior and accompany him on his final journey.

  • 11:45 — requiem service in the village of Zhovtantsi near the Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary (OCU);
  • 12:10 — reading of the Gospel in the town of Kamianka-Buzka near the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (OCU);
  • 12:20 — prayer near the Church of St Nicholas (UGCC) in the town of Kamianka-Buzka;
  • 12:40 — gathering near the Memorial to the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred in the village of Ruda;
  • 12:50 — welcoming the defender in the settlement of Dobrotvir near the Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul (OCU).

From the church in Dobrotvir, the funeral procession will proceed along Okruzhna Street (the settlement’s ring road) to the warrior’s family home at 7 Sahaydachnoho Street, where a requiem service will be held in the courtyard. After this, the funeral cortege will continue on foot to the Church of the Protection of the Blessed Virgin Mary (UGCC) in the settlement of Dobrotvir, where the funeral rite and a joint prayer for the repose of the fallen defender’s soul will take place. Andrii Savchyn will be laid to rest at the local cemetery in Dobrotvir.

The Dobrotvir community extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen warrior, sharing their grief and bowing their heads in mourning for the defender who gave his life for Ukraine and its independence.
