In Drohobych, after suffering a severe wound, Ukraine defender Ivan Bryliovskyi has died. He gave his life defending the independence and future of the state. This was reported by the Drohobych City Council.
Ivan Bryliovskyi was born on 6 July 1990. He grew up in Drohobych and lived on Mykhailo Hrushevskyi Street. He studied at Lyceum No. 16 named after Yurii Drohobych, and later qualified in “Accounting and Auditing” at the Drohobych Mechanical and Technological College. He subsequently continued his studies in the same speciality at the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv by correspondence.
In peacetime, he worked for more than ten years at JSC “Oschadbank”, where he was known as a responsible and friendly employee. In 2020–2024, he returned to his alma mater, Lyceum No. 16 named after Yurii Drohobych, where he held the post of public procurement specialist.
On 20 November 2024, the Kramatorsk District Territorial Centre of Recruitment and Social Support of Donetsk Region called up Ivan Bryliovskyi for military service under mobilisation. He served as a rifleman in the 3rd rifle squad of the 3rd rifle platoon of the 8th rifle company of the 3rd territorial defence battalion of military unit A7037, conscientiously fulfilling combat missions and his military duty.
On 9 July 2026, the serviceman sustained a severe head injury. Despite the efforts of doctors, on 15 July 2026, Ivan Bryliovskyi died as an inpatient at the Municipal Non-Commercial Enterprise of the Kharkiv Regional Council “Regional Clinical Hospital”.
The fallen defender was a loving father, caring son and reliable friend. He is remembered as a sincere, hard-working person devoted to his family, who stepped forward to defend his native land. In deep mourning remain his two children, his mother, who has been bedridden for a long time, his aunt and uncle with their children, as well as other relatives, friends and his comrades-in-arms.
The Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych extended their condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen warrior.
