
In the Drohobych community, the death of Vasyl Ivanishyn, a native of the village of Voroblevychi who had long been considered missing in action while defending Ukraine, has been officially confirmed.
Vasyl Ivanishyn was born on 7 February 1974. He spent his childhood and youth in his native Voroblevychi, where he finished the local school and later Vocational School No. 15. For a time he worked at the drill plant, and in adulthood he lived in Drohobych.
On 11 February 2023 he was called up for military service. The soldier served in military unit A4667 and held the rank of junior sergeant. On 26 December 2025, while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Novopavlivka in the Synelnykove district of Dnipropetrovsk region, contact with him was lost, after which he was listed as missing in action.
His death as a defender has now been officially confirmed, with 26 December 2025 recorded as the date of death. This makes it possible to bring the soldier’s body home for farewell and burial. He is survived by his mother, two brothers and nieces and nephews.
The Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their condolences to the family, relatives and friends of the fallen serviceman, assuring them of their support in this time of mourning.
The time of arrival of the funeral cortege with the defender’s body, as well as details of the farewell and burial, will be announced separately by the community.
