The Drohobych community has received sad news: while defending Ukraine from Russian aggression, resident of the village of Lishnia Oleh Torskyi was killed. He gave his life carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Yantarne in Kherson region.
Oleh Torskyi was born on 26 November 1974 in Lishnia. He studied at Lishnia Secondary School, after which he entered the Drohobych Oil and Gas College, specialising in “Well Drilling”. He later continued his education at the Educational and Consultation Centre of the Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas in Drohobych. He did not work in his field of study and spent a long period in the Czech Republic, where he was involved in the restoration of historic building facades.
With the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Oleh returned home. On 2 October 2023 he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a hardware mechanic in the 2nd communications platoon of the communications company of the command post of the communications battalion of military unit A4935.
On 13 April 2026 the serviceman was killed while carrying out a combat mission in the Yantarne area in Kherson region. The community stresses that he gave his life for the freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine.
Oleh Torskyi is mourned by his parents, his brother with his family, as well as numerous friends and comrades-in-arms. Those who knew him remember the defender as a sincere, kind, exceptionally compassionate and always smiling person, who never refused to help and left behind a bright memory.
The Drohobych City Council, its executive committee, Mayor Taras Kuchma and Council Secretary Orest Karakevych have expressed their heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the fallen soldier, thanking him for his courage, self-sacrifice, loyalty to the military oath and defence of Ukraine.
