Drohobych community welcomes home fallen defender Andrii Rovynskyi

In the Drohobych community, the body of fallen defender of Ukraine Andrii Rovynskyi, who passed into eternity on 28 September 2026, was welcomed home. This was reported by the Drohobych City Council.

Andrii Rovynskyi was born on 2 August 1991 and lived all his life in Drohobych. He studied at School No. 14 and later obtained a trade at VPU No. 15.

In 2023, he was mobilised into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served with the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade, took part in combat operations in the Bakhmut sector and was wounded. After treatment, the serviceman returned to duty, this time with the 82nd Brigade.

During his further service, the warrior’s health deteriorated, and on 28 September his heart stopped. Andrii Rovynskyi is survived by his mother, father, daughter and sister.

The solemn reception of the fallen defender took place at the Heroes’ Crossroads in Drohobych. There, clergy together with the community prayed for the repose of his soul. The funeral cortege then proceeded to the Chapel of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary, where a Parastas is scheduled for 19:00.

The funeral service for Andrii Rovynskyi will take place on 3 October at 12:00 in the Church of the Dormition of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The defender will be laid to rest in the Avenue of Glory.

The Drohobych City Council extended its condolences to the family, friends and comrades of the fallen soldier, stressing that the community bows its heads in mourning for its native son who rose to defend Ukraine.
