Drohobych community to welcome home fallen defender Roman Mishturak

The Drohobych community has officially confirmed the death of Ukrainian defender Roman Mishturak, who had been listed as missing in action for over a year. The body of the fallen soldier is being brought back to his home town for a farewell and burial.

Roman Mishturak was born on 17 June 1980. From childhood he lived in Drohobych on Sambirska Street and studied at local school No. 3. At the beginning of the full-scale invasion he was abroad, but returned to Ukraine and joined the ranks of the country’s defenders.

The serviceman was a senior driver of the 1st assault section of the 1st assault platoon of the 1st assault company of the 2nd assault battalion, military unit A4638. On 3 July 2025, while carrying out a combat mission, contact with him was lost, after which Roman was for a long time considered missing in action. Only now has his death been officially confirmed, which has made it possible to bring his body home.

The fallen defender is survived by his son and his sister with her family.

The funeral cortege with the body of Roman Mishturak will arrive in the Drohobych community on 16 July. A gathering is planned at 13:00 at the Heroes crossroads. At 13:30 a citywide farewell will take place on Rynok Square, after which at 14:00 the funeral service will continue in the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity. The defender will be laid to rest on the Avenue of Glory.
