The ranks of the heavenly battalion have been joined by 24-year-old Ukrainian defender, Drohobych local Oleksandr Solomchak.
Despite his young age, he consciously chose the path of serving the state and voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Oleksandr Solomchak was born on August 22, 2001. In 2018, he graduated from Secondary School No. 15 and then entered the Drohobych State Pedagogical University named after I. Franko, majoring in ‘Social Work’. He long and persistently tried to join the military but faced rejections due to his young age.
Nevertheless, he did not retreat from his decision. In March 2025, Oleksandr signed a contract and became a senior scout of the 1st group of a special reconnaissance battalion, military unit A0501. The warrior died on November 8, 2025, during a combat mission as part of a unit of the Armed Forces near the settlement of Vyshneve in the Synelnykivskyi district of Dnipropetrovsk region.
Today, on December 5, the body of our defender was returned to his native home on a shield for the final farewell. The mourning convoy with the fallen Hero’s body was met at the Heroes’ Intersection. Relatives, friends, and concerned community members gathered here, who, under the guidance of clergymen, prayed and paid tribute to the warrior.
*From the intersection, the coffin was taken to Rynok Square,*
