Drohobych Bids Farewell to Fallen Defender Roman Horodyskyi

Recently, the Drohobych community lost another of its defenders – Roman Horodyskyi, who died defending Ukraine from the aggressor.

Roman was born on May 3, 1978, in Drohobych and graduated from local school No. 1. He later studied at an oil college and served in the internal troops. Despite working abroad, with the start of the full-scale invasion, he was mobilized on April 4, 2022, and stood in defense of the Homeland. He died during a combat mission on November 5, 2024, near Bohoyavlenka in the Donetsk region, where he was considered missing in action.

Now his death is officially confirmed, and the body has been recovered for burial. He is survived by his parents, a brother with his family, and other relatives. Today, the convoy with the Hero’s body arrived in his hometown. A memorial service took place at the Heroes’ Crossroad with the participation of First Deputy Mayor Roman Beyzyk and concerned citizens.

The coffin was taken to the chapel of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary for a parastas service. The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, at 11:00 at the same church. The defender will be buried at the cemetery on Pylypa Orlyka Street.
