Drohobych community bids a final farewell to Ivan Tosko from Stebnyk

In the Drohobych community, a final farewell was held for fallen defender of Ukraine Ivan Tosko, a resident of the town of Stebnyk, who gave his life for the freedom and independence of the state.

As reported by Drohobych City Council, on 9 June a funeral cortege bearing the soldier’s body arrived in the community. At the Heroes’ crossroads, relatives, loved ones, friends, comrades-in-arms, representatives of the community leadership, clergy and residents gathered and honoured the fallen with a joint prayer.

After the reception, the funeral procession set off for Stebnyk. At 13:30, a citywide farewell to Ivan Tosko took place on Shevchenko Square, and at 14:00 the funeral service continued in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The soldier was laid to rest in the cemetery on Mekelyta Street.

Ivan Tosko was born on 31 December 1993 in Stebnyk and was brought up in the Oranta children’s home. From an early age he was passionate about drawing. After finishing the boarding school, he entered Stebnyk Vocational Lyceum, where he qualified as an electrical fitter for the repair and maintenance of electrical equipment.

During the full-scale war, Ivan took up arms to defend Ukraine and carried out combat missions as a unmanned aerial systems operator in military unit A4118. On 25 May 2026, he sustained severe wounds while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Preobrazhenka in the Polohy district of Zaporizhzhia region. As a result of these wounds, on 4 June the defender’s life was cut short.

Mourning the loss of Ivan Tosko are his wife, son, brother, sister, grandmother, aunts, nephews and nieces, as well as his comrades-in-arms and friends.
