
Ruslan Pyrtko, a resident of the village of Rykhtychi, was killed while defending Ukraine from the enemy in Kharkiv region. This was reported by Drohobych City Council.
The soldier was born on 7 January 1971, lived in the village of Rykhtychi and finished the local school. After his studies, he did his military service and later worked at a truck crane plant.
After the start of the full-scale invasion, on 16 March 2022, Ruslan Pyrtko took up arms to defend Ukraine. He carried out combat missions as part of the support section of a radiation, chemical and biological reconnaissance company, military unit A5097. The soldier’s life was cut short on 20 May 2026 in Kharkiv region while performing his military duties.
The fallen defender is mourned by his mother, wife, two children, daughter-in-law and two grandchildren. The whole family is in grief.
Today, on Heroes’ Day, the Drohobych community will welcome the funeral cortege bearing the body of Ruslan Pyrtko. The gathering will take place at 15:00 at the Heroes’ crossroads. After a short prayer and requiem service, the procession will proceed to the soldier’s native village, where a vigil will be held at 20:00.
Tomorrow, 24 May, at 14:00, the funeral service will take place. Ruslan Pyrtko will be laid to rest at the local cemetery in Rykhtychi.
