
In the Velyki Mosty community they remember Yaroslav Lychko, who was killed in action during a combat mission in Donetsk region two years ago. The fighter was born in the town of Velyki Mosty and gave his life for Ukraine’s freedom and independence near the settlement of Paraskoviivka in the Pokrovsk district of Donetsk region.
Yaroslav Lychko was born and raised in Velyki Mosty. He studied at the Velyki Mosty educational complex “Comprehensive School of Levels I–III – Lyceum”, as well as at the Velyki Mosty children’s school of arts, where he learned to play wind and percussion instruments. After finishing school he trained as a mechanic specialising in machine repair, and later did his compulsory military service in the 80th Separate Airmobile Brigade.
From 19 May 2024 the serviceman served as a rifleman–assistant grenade launcher operator in the 4th airmobile unit of military unit A0224. On 19 July 2024, while carrying out a combat mission near Paraskoviivka in Donetsk region, he was killed.
For his courage and self-sacrifice, Yaroslav Lychko was posthumously awarded the Order “For Courage” III Class, and was also granted the honorary title “Hero of the Velyki Mosty Territorial Community”. The community extends its sincere condolences to his parents, brother, relatives and friends, and emphasises that the memory of the defender, his humanity and his bravery will forever remain in the hearts of his fellow townspeople.
