The second anniversary is marked of the death of Vasyl Mazurak (15.07.1971 – 17.09.2024) — a resident of the village of Koropuzh and a defender of Ukraine who gave his life for its freedom and independence.
In 2014, Vasyl Mazurak was called up to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ATO zone for more than two years, after which, in 2016, he was discharged into the reserve.
After the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Vasyl returned to the army. On 24 February 2022 he joined the 24th Separate Mechanised Brigade named after King Danylo. At first he served in the tank forces, and later was transferred to a motorised infantry platoon and received the military rank of senior sergeant.
Vasyl Mazurak fulfilled his military duty until the very end. On 17 September 2024 he was killed in the area of the town of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region as a result of a strike by an enemy drone on the position of Ukrainian servicemen.
On the anniversary of his death, local residents gratefully remember the serviceman who gave his life for Ukraine. The memory of Vasyl Mazurak remains an important part of the shared history of the community and the state.
