On January 18, Mayor Serhiy Kasyan and the commander of the 63rd separate battalion of the TRO of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Yuriy Matviev presented the “Golden Cross” award from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny to the wife and children of the fallen Hero Stepan LUTCHYN.

Defender Stepan Lutchyn died on December 5, 2023 while performing a combat mission in the Kharkiv Region. He came from the village of Ostriv, Chervonograd district, and lived in Sokal with his wife and children. Courageously defended Ukraine as part of the 63rd Separate Battalion of the TRO Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
From the first days of the war, Stepan Lutchyn together with his son Vladyslav went to defend Ukraine. The year 2023 turned out to be very difficult for this family, the son Vladyslav was captured by the occupiers, and the father Stepan died in the Kharkiv region.

It is impossible to convey the tears and despair of Alina’s wife, who lost her husband and daily worries about her son, who is still in captivity. Her only consolation is her two younger children – son Maxim and daughter Angelina, who are proud of the feats of their father and brother.
All of us must daily remember the Heroes, those who gave their lives for us and those who are now risking their lives, in frost, snow, rain, in hard battles, choosing our future,
“Honorary citizen of Chervonograd city-territorial community”, defender from the village of Ostriv Stepan Lutchyn was posthumously awarded the “Golden Cross” badge by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.
The hero was from the village of Ostriv, and lived with his wife and children in the city of Sokal. The award was presented to Stepan Lutchyn’s wife and children by the head of the Sokal community, Serhiy Kasyan, and the commander of the 63rd separate battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Matviev.
