The wife of the fallen defender of Ukraine, Sergeant Petro Tkachyk “PEKHA”, Ilona, received her husband’s posthumous state award — the Combatant’s Cross from the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Sergeant Petro Tkachyk was awarded posthumously for his courage, bravery and self-sacrifice in the struggle for Ukraine’s freedom and independence. The award was presented to the defender’s wife by Andriy Sadovyi.
The announcement stresses that no award can lessen the pain of loss, but it attests that Petro Tkachyk’s feat has not been forgotten, for he gave his life for the sake of Ukraine, peace and the future.
