Two years have passed in the Velyki Mosty community since, during a combat mission, the community lost its Defender — Andrii Bohdanovych Chobot. He went missing in action on 26 September 2024 near the settlement of Vodiane in Donetsk region, while carrying out a combat mission as part of a unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Andrii Chobit was born on 4 December 1992 in the village of Butyny. After finishing school, he worked in construction and later went to Kyiv for work. In July 2024 he was called up for military service.
The serviceman served as a rifleman-sniper in the third assault squad of the second assault platoon of the third assault company of military unit A4848. After he went missing at the front, his family and friends waited a long time for news of him, holding on to hope and praying for his return.
On 18 April 2025, on Good Friday, Andrii’s body was brought home. He returned to his home community on his shield. The Defender was only 31 years old.
For his mother, two sisters and brother, Andrii has forever remained a loved one — a good son, a caring brother and a loyal friend. For the Velyki Mosty community, he is a Defender who gave his life for Ukraine and for people’s right to live and build their future in a free country.
The community stresses that Andrii Chobot will be remembered as young, smiling and courageous. Posthumously, Andrii Chobot was awarded the honorary title of “Hero of the Velyki Mosty Territorial Community”.
