It is two years since the death of defender Vasyl Iliuk from Lybokhora, who gave his life while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of M’iasozharivka in Luhansk region.
Vasyl Iliuk was born on 15 February 1987. In 2008 he graduated from Ternopil National Economic University with a degree in law.
In January 2023 Vasyl joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as a senior rifleman-operator in the rifle squad of the Stryi Territorial Defence Battalion.
On 13 September 2024 the serviceman was killed while carrying out a combat mission in Luhansk region. The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, posthumously awarded Vasyl Iliuk the Order “For Courage”, 3rd Class.
The memory of the fallen defender from Lybokhora is cherished by his family, his comrades-in-arms and his fellow villagers.
