
Two residents of Lviv have been posthumously awarded high state honours for their bravery in defending Ukraine. The Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration, Maksym Kozytskyi, together with the Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv Region, Oleksandr Shliakhovskyi, presented the President of Ukraine’s awards “For the Defence of Ukraine” to the families of the fallen servicemen.
Police Corporal Bohdan Verkhohii, aged 29, a resident of Lviv, died in May 2025 near the village of Pleshchiivka in the Kramatorsk district of Donetsk region during counter-sabotage operations. He was declared deceased in September of the same year. The award was presented to the Hero’s mother, Halyna Verkhohii.
Senior Police Sergeant Mykhailo Shtynda, aged 38, a resident of Drohobych, died in September 2025 near the village of Ivanopillia in the Donetsk region, after being struck by enemy FPV drones. The award was presented to the Hero’s mother, Hanna Shtynda.
“We bow our heads in memory of Bohdan and Mykhailo,” said the head of the region.
