In Truskavets, a farewell will be held for defender of Ukraine Ihor Nykytenko, a senior sergeant of the Special Operations Centre “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, who was killed at the front on 2 June 2026. This was reported by the Truskavets City Council.
Ihor Andriyovych Nykytenko (call sign “Pirat”) was a resident of Truskavets, a husband and father of two children. He was born on 19 June 1995 in the village of Yablunets in Zhytomyr region and, from 2014, devoted more than ten years of his life to the struggle for Ukraine, dying at the age of 30.
At the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war, in 2014, nineteen-year-old Ihor volunteered for the front as part of the special-purpose battalion “Sich”. He later served in the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade and the 12th Special Purpose Brigade “Azov”. The warrior took part in fierce battles and operations in Kharkiv, Donetsk, Luhansk and Kherson regions. In February 2026, he joined the Special Operations Forces and began service in the Special Operations Centre “A” of the SBU.
The City Council notes that Ihor’s combat path was marked by decorations, as well as courage that cannot be measured by awards. His comrades-in-arms remember him as a warrior who, even after severe wounds, returned to the ranks and considered it his duty to be where he was most needed. His family held an important place in his life.
While undergoing treatment in Truskavets, Ihor met his future wife Maryana from the village of Opaka in the Skhidnytsia community. The young couple first lived in Opaka and later moved with their two children to Truskavets.
