Ivan Ratalskyi (05.07.1985–22.01.2024), a private, rifleman-sniper of an assault battalion, originally from the village of Yosypovychi in the Stryi community, was killed in action while carrying out a combat mission near the settlement of Ivanivske in the Bakhmut district of Donetsk region.
He was born and lived in Yosypovychi, attended the local school as well as a school in Pidhirtsi. Afterwards, he continued his education at the Odesa Maritime Vocational College and at VPU No. 35.
For some time, Ivan Ratalskyi lived with his family in Khmelnytskyi region. After returning to the Stryi area, he worked for the company “Hrinera”.
In 2023, he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. After he was killed near Ivanivske, the serviceman was listed as missing for more than two years. The defender was identified by DNA sample.
According to available information, Ivan’s mother believed in her son’s return until the very end. Relatives and friends are being offered condolences, as he is remembered as a warrior who gave his life while carrying out a combat mission.
