Lieutenant Yurii Kusyi from the village of Ozhydiv in Zolochiv district has been posthumously awarded a high state distinction — the Combatant’s Cross of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The 24-year-old officer, platoon commander of the 45th Artillery Brigade, was killed on 13 March 2022 during a massive missile strike by Russian forces on the International Centre for Peacekeeping and Security in Starychi.
On Ukraine’s Independence Day, the decoration and the badge of honour “Honour and Remembrance”, with which Yurii Kusyi was distinguished, were received by his mother, Mariia Kusiі.
