
The Lopatyn community is preparing to accompany on his final journey their fellow countryman, Hryhorii Muryн, who was killed defending Ukraine. The defender was born on 1 October 1980, studied at Berezivka Secondary School, and later continued his education at the Olesko Vocational School.
After completing his studies, Hryhorii did his compulsory military service in Pryluky, and from 2000 to 2003 he served under contract in the town of Yavoriv. In 2002–2003 he studied at the warrant officers’ school in the town of Berdychiv, Zhytomyr region. After completing his military service, he worked at the Halychyna enterprise.
When the country once again needed soldiers, Hryhorii Muryн returned to the ranks of the defenders. On 3 April 2025 he was called up for military service by the Second Department of the Sheptytskyi District Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centre. He served in military unit A7400, held the rank of staff sergeant and was a driver in the 2nd reconnaissance section of the 1st reconnaissance platoon of the reconnaissance company.
On 5 July 2025, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the settlement of Andriivka in Sumy region, the serviceman was killed as a result of an FPV drone strike. For a long time he was considered missing in action, and on 7 July 2026 his identity was officially confirmed.
The cherished memory of Hryhorii Muryн as a courageous, sincere and devoted son of Ukraine will remain in the hearts of his family, friends, comrades-in-arms and all who knew him. The community extends its heartfelt condolences to the father, relatives and loved ones of the fallen defender.
The funeral service for Hryhorii Muryн is scheduled for 16 July 2026. At 10:30 the funeral cortege will depart from the town of Radekhiv to the village of Berezivka in the Lopatyn territorial community. Residents of the community are asked to give the fallen warrior a fitting welcome and to accompany him with respect on his final journey.
